Climate change is a serious and pressing concern; it is a huge issue of global importance so we should and could do more. The UK has a leading role to play in tackling climate change. However, this also needs urgent attention from the Governments of the world.
The 2020 UN Global Climate Change Summit (COP26) will be a crucial moment for the future of our planet as it will set out the next stages of the Paris Agreement. The UK is bidding to host this conference and a decision will be made soon.
I urge you to sign the petition so that we can send a clear message to Governments all across the world that the UK is ready to step up and take leadership of the issue.
Please return the petition to me as soon as possible, and no later than Friday, 14 June 2019.
To the House of Commons
The petition of the residents of the constituency of Thirsk and Malton.
Declares that climate change is a serious and pressing concern and needs urgent attention from the Governments of the world; further that the UK has a leading role to play on tackling climate change in the future.
The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urges the Government to ensure the UK hosts the upcoming COP 26 Climate Change Conference in 2020.
And the petitioners remain etc
