Leaving the EU with a deal on October 31st

I have been absolutely clear throughout the Brexit process that we should respect the referendum decision but that it is better for businesses and jobs if we agree a deal with the EU. Like most MPs, I do not want a no deal outcome and neither does the Prime Minister.

Today we will have a new Prime Minister. Boris Johnson’s victory, by two to one, came as no surprise to anyone. I voted for him because I believe we need a Brexiteer, someone who has always believed in leaving the EU, to lead and negotiate the next stage of our departure.

An independent report into emergency services at Northallerton’s Friarage hospital has concluded that there was a sound case to make changes earlier this year. The report was commissioned by my parliamentary colleague, Rishi Sunak MP (Richmond), whose constituency includes the hospital.
