Today I met with Health Minister, Lord O'Shaughnessy, who has lent his support to our campaign to secure the former Lambert Hospital in Thirsk for the community. I am in constant dialogue with NHS property services, who own the Chapel Street Site, and they have now met with both Hambleton District Council and North Yorkshire Council. Following this meeting, the two councils are working with the local CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) to look at possible uses for the building. I am confident that we will find a solution and that the building will not be put on the market for conversion into flats. I think it is hugely important that it is kept for future health care purposes as the neighbouring GP services are stretched and was, of course, gifted to the community for this very purpose.
