Politics, this year, has had more twists and turns than some of the country lanes in my constituency. As we prepare to hang up our Christmas stockings, it’s as good a moment as any to take stock of how far we have come on our journey.
It was never going to be a celebratory Conference. There is no point in hiding the fact that the June general election made the significant challenges ahead that much more difficult. However, for those who look on the bright side of life, there is much to be proud of and grateful for.
I am grateful for all the help and support as I have received in my first year as your MP. 2016 is full of opportunities that I very much hope, and will use all of my endeavours to make sure, will benefit our constituency.
Should the UK take part in allied bombing raids on ISIL in Syria? I believe that we should, but only if we are willing to commit to a comprehensive, international, long-term plan for stabilisation and reconstruction.
