Residents of Husthwaite enjoyed a sunny afternoon celebrating their community at a “Great Get Together” held in the village on Sunday. Kevin Hollinrake MP joined neighbours and friends during the afternoon festivities. This was one of many events held across the country at the weekend in memory of Batley and Spen MP, Jo Cox, and to honour her belief that “we have far more in common than that which divides us.” Jo Cox was murdered last year as she was going to a constituency surgery.
Mr Hollinrake and his family took part in the Great Get Together activities which included a village photo and a bake-off competition.
“It was a really wonderful day, the atmosphere was uplifting. It is great to be part of such a vibrant village. Recent tragic events have shown the value of community and how people coming together to support each other is our country’s greatest strength. Jo was a valued colleague and I feel the Great Get Together was a fitting way to remember her.”
