The campaign I am leading to dual the A64 has moved a step closer to success this week.

I’d like to encourage publicans and pub lovers across the constituency to take part in a Pubs APPG inquiry into how to support them post pandemic.

Plans to improve safety on two further sections of the A19 are very welcome indeed.

Following a campaign I led in Parliament I am delighted that the UK’s four mobile network operators are to expand 4G coverage in Thirsk and Malton.

I shall continue to challenge the legal basis upon which the RVS (Royal Voluntary Centre) plans to sell off Hungate Centre in Pickering. The RVS took over as caretakers in the 60s not long after it was built by the Pickering community.

Today I introduced a Ten Minute Rule Bill in the House of Commons which would bring an end to business rates and replace the revenue with a small increase in VAT.

I have joined a group of 30 Conservative MPs to help spearhead the Government’s “levelling up” agenda.

I do understand that there is a good deal of concern about this. As I have said many times the Government has been clear that in all of our trade negotiations, we will not compromise on our high environmental protection, animal welfare and food standards.

I will never give up my campaign for improvements to the A64 which will bring huge benefits across the region.

2020 has been a long hard year but, as it draws to a close, we must take heart from fact that the first Covid vaccination programme in the world has begun and, at last, we can start to look forward not backwards.
